Miele is becoming one of the most popular premium vacuum cleaners on the internet. They are renowned for there quality, warranty, performance, and superior filtration. As a vacuum cleaner store employee & owner, I am familiar with the whole Miele product line and feel the following canister models represent the features that most consumers are looking for in a premium canister vacuum.

Miele Antares

The Miele Antares canister drive is part of the Miele S4 Galaxy caniser vacuum cleaner series. This series utilizes non-electric hoses. The pros of a non electric hose is that it's cheaper to replace, and there are less things on the vacuum cleaner that can go wrong, get damaged or bad over time. The cons of a non electric hose is that the powerbrush (if you select a vacuum with a powerbrush) will work well, but it's typically not as effective on high pile carpets, or in households where there is an animal that sheds heavily.

The Antares vacuum comes with the a turbobrush and a floor tool for smooth flooring. The filtration system is superb. The vacuum is sealed, so all of the air coming into the vacuum is filtered through the vacuum before it exits. This literally cleans the air in the room as well as your carpet. The Miele Antares also comes with the standard features you would expect from a canister vacuum. I recommend this vacuum cleaner for people who care about filtration and have low pile carpets and smooth surfaced floors that you vacuum regularly.

Miele Capricorn

The Capricorn vacuum by Miele is part of the S5 series. The S5 series features silence insulation (the vacuum is really quiet while it is running) and Miele quality HEPA filtration comes standard.

The Capricorn uses an electric hose. You will notice the Capricorn can be found at 2 different prices (959 vs 1059). The difference is the higher price should involve an upgraded feature: a Full sized power head. The full sized head does perform better than the mid size, and I don't understand why anybody who knows of the difference wouldn't opt to get the best carpet cleaning powerbrush with such a premium vacuum cleaner.

The Capricorn also has an ergonomic handle on the vacuum with the ability to turn off the power. This vacuum can be used on high, medium, and low pile carpets and smooth flooring. The electric hose combined with the Full sized powerhead will clean a carpet with animal hair and or sand aggressively, and provide a clean and quit environment while doing so.
